Methodology and Pedagogy
Piano Lessons
I provide practical piano lessons for all age groups and abilities. I am passionate about teaching music and I tailor my lessons for each particular student as they often have different goals. Some students are complete beginners, while others are looking to advance through the ABRSM grades 1-8. I also welcome students who want to learn the piano as a hobby and want less formal lessons.
Piano Lessons for Children
It is important for your young child to start building musical skills as early as possible. Learning piano has been scientifically proven to improve a child's abilities such as:
- Motor skills
- Early literacy
- Quantitative reasoning
- Social-emotional skills
- Creativity
I have developed appropriate music education materials for children that promote learning in the lesson and at home. I prepare materials prior to the lesson with resources adapted for children to make a friendly environment. I incorporate drawing and singing methods in order to develop naturally for their ability. I also use the 'rainbow technique' method which consists of relating a colour palette to each individual note.
Piano Lessons for Adults
It's never too late! Whether you are a complete beginner or need a refresher course, get in touch. I will share my method and my knowledge with you so that you can start understanding the depth of music in an effective way.
Grades 1-8 ABRSM and Trinity College
I am providing lessons for Grades (ABRSM), in which my students have never failed exam.
ARSM and DipARSM or LTCL in Trinity College
Music Theory
I studied at Conservatoire in Spain, piano being my main instrument. The Conservatoire taught me how to compose using classical methods. In more recent years I have performed as a keyboard/synth player in a few bands. I found I needed a faster way of understanding harmony so I could improvise much quicker. From this experience I have wondered why many institutions approach theory in such an old fashioned way.
I have developed a new method of teaching which has proven successful. Many of my students are able to improvise and compose within just three months of starting.
Whether you are a complete beginner or an active producer; I look forward to sharing my teaching methods and knowledge with you so you can start understanding the depth of music in a faster way.
I can also help with music theory exam from ABRSM.
Music Production & Sound Design
I provide sound production lessons for the following software:
- Logic Pro
- Pro Tools
- Native Instrument plug-ins (including Kontakt, Massive, Reaktor, Guitar Rig, Absynth)
The methods and knowledge I teach will give you a greater understanding and depth of music.
I can give you practical advice when it comes to producing music, such as how to use correctly use compression, limiter, EQ etc. I mainly work on film soundtracks, so I can also give you advice if you need help in that area.
Combining Theory/Composition
I recommend combining your production lesson with music theory and composition lessons to enhance the originality of your work.
Pitch Recognition
Enables you to tune a sampler library to the correct key. I can also help you extract harmony from existing music and remix it to avoid dissonance . Learning pitch recognition will give you more confidence in using sampler instruments rather than cropping samples all the time.
